When I was ten years old I started attending Saturday morning art classes at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh.
From then on I was hooked.
After studying commercial art at the Community College of Allegheny County I moved to New York City and earned my B.F.A. in Graphic Design at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. I have continued my education in painting with numerous workshops and coursework at the National Academy of Fine Arts.
For many years I worked producing fine art prints for artists, galleries and museums. Most recently, I’ve worked for ten years managing and operating the print shop at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. Now I am committed to painting full-time and producing fine art products for sale.
My subject matter includes landscapes, portraits and still life painting. I am an avid photographer and I often use my photographs for subjects from which I paint.
Over the years, I’ve studied and practiced color theory, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, design, typography, digital imaging techniques and creative problem solving. The world we live in wants to assign us each a label to categorize us for easy identification. However, reality isn’t quite so simple. We each possess a combination of multiple abilities and varied knowledge that make us the unique individuals we are today. If we look beyond the surface and are given the opportunity to reveal more about ourselves, it becomes apparent that we are the sum total of our experiences. Life becomes a more fulfilling experience when we observe, listen, share and grow with each other.
